What is NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that funds and supports people with permanent, significant disabilities. Its aim is to give individuals choice, control, and independence through personalised support.
NDIS participants can access services such as personal care, in-home support, therapy, transport, community participation, and supported independent living, helping them build skills and improve quality of life.
Eligibility requires being under 65, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and having a disability that affects daily functioning. Once approved, participants create a tailored support plan with registered providers like Golden Gate Support Services, who assist in understanding plans, connecting with providers, and maximising support.

NDIS Assistance with Daily Personal Activities
Our team supports participants with daily personal activities in line with their NDIS plan goals. This includes help with tasks like getting dressed, grooming, moving around the home, managing routines, and other everyday functions. We focus on building independence while ensuring comfort and care.
NDIS Personal Care Services
We offer NDIS personal care services that are respectful, culturally sensitive, and delivered by trained support workers. From showering and toileting to dressing and personal hygiene, we provide consistent and safe care that protects dignity and promotes wellbeing.
NDIS Cleaning Services
Golden Gate provides trusted NDIS cleaning support to help participants maintain a clean, safe, and healthy home environment. Our domestic assistance includes vacuuming, mopping, bathroom cleaning, surface disinfection, laundry, and more tailored to each participant’s needs.

Navigating NDIS funding can be confusing without the right guidance. At Golden Gate Support Services, we’re here to help you understand how your NDIS funds work and how you can use them to achieve your goals. Here’s a quick guide to the most asked questions.
Your NDIS funding is designed to support your individual goals, whether that means gaining independence, improving daily living skills, joining your local community, or increasing your confidence.
You can use your NDIS plan for supports like:
- Personal care and in-home assistance
- Therapy services and capacity-building supports
- Assistive technology and equipment
- Support workers for community participation
- Transport related to your disability
- Help around the home (meal prep, cleaning, etc.)
If a support is related to your disability and helps you reach your goals, it may be eligible under your plan.
No—NDIS funding cannot be used for day-to-day living expenses such as:
- Rent or mortgage payments
- Groceries or takeaway food
- Utility bills (electricity, water, internet)
- Personal entertainment or lifestyle costs
These are considered general living expenses, which are not covered under the NDIS.
NDIS funds are for disability-related supports that help improve your daily life, not every day personal expenses.
That depends on how your NDIS plan is managed:
- NDIA-managed plans: You must use registered NDIS providers.
- Plan-managed or self-managed plans: You can use both registered and unregistered providers—including us at Golden Gate Support Services.
We work closely with plan-managed and self-managed participants to deliver compassionate, high-quality disability support.
Not registered doesn’t mean less qualified
To check your NDIS funding balance, follow these steps:
- Log into your myGov account
- Go to the myplace portal
- View your current plan, spending history, and remaining budget
If you’re plan-managed, your Plan Manager can also help you track your spending and budget updates in real time.
